About Capstone

Spokane’s Best Contractors

Capstone is a local-family-owned construction company that was incorporated in 1990. A family of contractors, Pat Cummings (Dad) founded Capstone, and now it is owned and run by his three sons, Shay, Adam, and Jason. “Pats boys” are thrilled to be building on their dad’s legacy and leading Capstone into the next generation of the restoration and remediation industry.

The History of Capstone Construction

Pat Cummings has been a staple in the Spokane Contractors construction industry since the mid-70s. He was initially a partial owner of a framing company. Eventually, he went on to own a small construction company that built and remodeled homes.

In 1990, Pat started Capstone Construction Company. Capstone began as an insurance restoration company specializing in additions, remodels, and new homes.

By 2000, Capstone became Spokane’s largest Insurance Restoration Contractor, employing over 50 people.

Pats Boys

Pat has had various partners over the years, and in the spring of 2013, his partner of nearly 20 years retired. At that time, Pat’s sons Shay, Adam, and Jason bought 50% of the company. Shay, Adam, and Jason, commonly referred to as “Pat’s Boys,” have been in the industry their whole lives. They have all been employed at Capstone since the mid- to late 90s.

Meet Capstone

Shay Cummings

Shay Cummings began working at Capstone in his early teens. He worked his way up from general laborer to supervisor and then became an estimator before acquiring ownership. Shay is a master carpenter, automotive enthusiast, tech tinkerer, and music buff. When he is not at work, he spends time on his boat with his wife, Shellie, and their five daughters.

Adam Cummings

Like his older brother Shay, Adam Cummings started working at Capstone very young. He developed his carpentry skills, worked his way up to a supervisor, and then became an owner. Adam oversees business development, marketing, and some estimating. Adam is a very busy family man. He and his wife, Lora, have 6 kiddos at home. Adam has been playing sports since he could walk. Now he and Lora (collegiate athlete) are busy coaching and running their 6 children around to every sporting event possible.

Jason Cummings

Jason Cummings, the youngest of the three brothers, followed in similar footsteps. Jason started as a laborer, then worked his way to supervisor, and now co-owns Capstone with his brothers. Jason works behind the scenes at Capstone and manages all administrative tasks. When Jason is not running the office, he spends quality time with his wife, Rebecca, and four boys at their river property in Ione, Washington.
